Christie Brinkley was born on February 2, 1954, in Monroe, Michigan. In 1973 Brinkley was discovered in Paris by an American photographer named Errol Sawyer. She was introduced to John Casablancas, founder of Elite Model Management in Paris. Soon after, she was introduced to Eileen Ford and then when back to California and signed with the Ford affiliate in LA.
Her first major bookings were for Glamour, and then the start of a long relationship with CoverGirl cosmetics. Christie Brinkley appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for three years in a row, from 1979 to 1981.
Her editorial work includes US, Vogue, Newsweek,Rolling Stone, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Glamour and Life Magazine.
Christie Brinkley’s modeling work includes work with Chanel No. 19, Prell, MasterCard, Breck, Diet Coke, Anheuser-Busch, Got Milk?, Healthy Choice, Max Factor, Nissan, Noxema, Revlon,Clairol, Borghese Cosmetics, Danskin, Nu Skin, Yardley of London, Halston, Vogue Patterns, Gottex and Black Velvet.
